Painter

I began painting recreationally 30 years ago. Living in Alaska and in high school at the time, I catered to the tourist in Alaska by painting local scenery on gold pans for keep sakes of their visit to Alaska.

After graduation I moved to California and fell in love with photography and worked in various labs with well known local photographers in the San Francisco bay area.

I turned to art seriously when I began helping other artists achieve their goals as they came to me to engage my skills to produce high quality giclee reproductions of their work. As I led them to enter the field of limited edition printing, my desire to start developing my own portfolio increased. My earlier experience in the photography field IN Alaska, where I used my artistic talents to explore the world of graphic design for sign companies, print shops, and later my own business as a graphic designer, would now come into play as I worked with other artists.

For the past decade here in the Spokane area I have combined my love of art and photography in a studio-graphic arts situation which enabled me to use the most recent technology and latest printing presses and inks to help many hundreds of regional artists reproduce work in many styles of painting, drawing subject matter from the entire Pacific Northwest. In working closely with them to reproduce their art I have gained the necessary experience to help them achieve a result that meets with their expectations for the highest quality of giclee reproductions.

In the last two years I’ve begun painting again in earnest, experimenting with brush and palette knife and exploring a wide range of styles from impressionism to photo realism. My more recent works combine elements of both styles.

Sculpting

I began making nature art pieces in the summer of 2009. I have always loved wood and have worked with wood for over 30 years. I also have always loved rocks and gemstones and shells and have collected all those things for most of my live.

Combining all those things with an interest in beading, I decided to put them all together into one-of-a-kind, whimsical "Nature Sculptures." Or as one person has called them, "Meditation Pieces."

I have been participating in shows and fairs since September 2009 and now have an Etsy shop site on which to sell the pieces. I call my business, Dream Scapes. The web address for my shop is www.etsy.com/shop/rache7. You may also view more of my pieces on my Photobucket site:
