Joyce Sonnabend
Painter
Joyce Sonnabend has been drawing and painting since she was a child. Growing up in the small Idaho mining town of Kellogg, she had great art teachers who encouraged her natural talent. A self taught artist, Joyce has learned by experience, trial and error. Her paintings have won numerous awards over the years both at county fairs and juried shows.
Joyce works in watercolors, oils and
sometimes pencils and occasionally switches from one medium to the other. She paints mostly form memory or imagination, but uses her own photos or still life displays occasionally. Capturing something beautiful on canvas or paper is her goal. “Painting is an escape, an adventure and a soul-satisfying balm. I can’t function for long without art.”
“Art has opened up a world of friends and experiences, knowledge, and God willing, I will continue to paint all my life.”
