Joyce SonnabendJoyce Sonnabend

Painter

Joyce Sonnabend has been drawing and painting since she was a child. Growing up in the small Idaho mining town of Kellogg, she had great art teachers who encouraged her natural talent. A self taught artist, Joyce has learned by experience, trial and error. Her paintings have won numerous awards over the years both at county fairs and juried shows.

Joyce works in watercolors, oils and sometimes pencils and occasionally switches from one medium to the other.  She paints mostly form memory or imagination, but uses her own photos or still life displays occasionally.  Capturing something beautiful on canvas or paper is her goal. “Painting is an escape, an adventure and a soul-satisfying balm. I can’t function for long without art.” “Art has opened up a world of friends and experiences, knowledge, and God willing, I will continue to paint all my life.”

Painter, Writer

I have always been interested in art of all kinds. Painting, sculpting, music, poetry and writing all are favorites of mine. I like to draw and oil paint mostly but lately have stumbled onto the so called street art of oil painting. This has my interest at the moment and I am trying to create paintings of many different kinds.

Scenery is fun as is abstract. The many techniques of spray paint art I am still learning and inventing a few myself.

My other interest at the moment is a novel I am writing. Only three chapters to go but, weeks of rewrites, I just know. Thank all of you for welcoming me into your association. I have always thought that works of art have three meanings, what it means to me, what it means to you and what it really means.
